Fort-de-France (French: [fɔʁ də fʁɑ̃s]; Guadeloupean Creole French: Fodfwans) is a commune and the capital (prefecture) of Martinique, an overseas department and region of France located in the Caribbean. It is the principal administrative, economic, and cultural centre of the island.
