A city, up close

Norwich has one of the largest and best-preserved medieval city centres in England, with Norwich Cathedral's spire — the second-tallest in the country — visible from much of the city. Norwich Castle, a Norman keep, sits at the opposite end of the old centre, and the city is unusual in having kept more than thirty medieval parish churches, more than any other city in Britain north of the Alps.
