Marlow, England

Return to Map

Marlow is a small town on the River Thames in Buckinghamshire, England, about 30 miles west of London. It's best known for its 19th-century suspension bridge — designed by William Tierney Clark, whose later work in Budapest produced the Széchenyi Chain Bridge using much of the same design. All Saints' Church sits just beside it, and the riverside path past the weir and lock is one of the most walked stretches of the Thames Path. Mary Shelley lived in Marlow while finishing Frankenstein, and the town's High Street still has the look of the Georgian market town it grew from — now filled with independent shops, pubs, and cafés along the water.
