A city, up close

Cambridge grew up around its own university, and its riverside "Backs" — where college gardens run down to the River Cam — are one of the most walked stretches in the city. King's College Chapel's fan-vaulted ceiling and Trinity College's Great Court are among England's best-known university buildings, and punting on the Cam past the college backs is as much a Cambridge tradition as it is in Oxford.
